Staff Notice
Hello MUSD family,
Today, the Ventura County Public Health department declared a local health emergency, which will provide additional resources for coronavirus response. Because of this declaration and in the interest of the health of our community, we have decided to close all MUSD schools beginning on Tuesday, March 17th through Friday, March 20th. We will still hold our in-service day on Monday, March 16, 2020, in order to plan and develop distance learning opportunities for our students. The following week is our scheduled Spring Break and as of now, the district office will continue normal operations during that week, unless advised otherwise.
We hope to reopen all schools on Monday, March 30th after Spring Break, but that decision will depend on the circumstances at the time. We will continue to communicate with you regularly as updated information becomes available.
We understand that school closures have significant impacts on you and our students and families and we hope to resume normal operations as soon as possible. We will provide more detailed information about work schedules and other pertinent information tomorrow afternoon. We do not make these decisions without enormous thought and input from county and state officials. Although at the time of this email, we have no known active cases of the virus in Moorpark, we feel this is the best course of action.
To reiterate, all schools will be open tomorrow with our lovely students. In addition, all employees scheduled to work on the in-service day on Monday, March 16, should report to work as usual.
I thank you for your patience and understanding during this very challenging time. I am so grateful for your service to our district and to our students.
Gratefully yours,
Kelli
